Tuan Guo is a professor in the Institute of Photonics Technology, Jinan University, China. He received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Xi’an Shiyou University in 2001 and 2004, and the Ph.D. in Optics from Nankai University in 2007. Thereafter he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with the Department of Electronics at Carleton University (Canada) and the Photonics Research Centre at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He joined the Jinan University as an associate professor in 2011 and promoted to a full professor in 2014.


Dr. Guo’s research interests include optical fiber sensors, fiber gratings, plasmonics, biophotonics and photonics for renewable energy. He has authored more than 200 papers in the peer-reviewed international journals, 6 tutorial and invited reviews, 1 springer handbook chapter and presented over 30 invited talks at international conferences. He holds over 20 patents and pending patents.


He was a co-chair of the IEEE-IMS technical committee “Photonic Technology in Instrumentation and Measurement”, a senior member of IEEE and a senior member of the Optical Society of America (OSA). He served as the associate TPC chair of IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference 2019 (Auckland, New Zealand), TPC section chair of CLEO Pacific Rim Conference 2018 (Hong Kong, China). He is the recipient of 2018 Technical Award of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society for his contributions to the advancement of energy and health monitoring technologies.
